Playing around with Photoshop CS2 (I still like more 7.01) and made this:
Gibson LesPaul in vector. (about 120 layers, smart objects groups actualy with less scrolling on the work area)
It's still "raw" image cause I like to add to the background more vector things and also make a Print version...
I hope you like it.
PS: The only non vector thing is Gibson's logo that I couldn't find it on my HDD, will search again on my CDs
for the final-print version.
Beautiful! I bet there's a lot of guitar websites and magazines out there that would kill to use vectors like this. You should make a series of them. I bet you could get really efficient at churning them out -- Do my Cherry Red American Fender Strat next
I love you. I wish I had that guitar and I wish it shined like that. My only suggestion is to add a very subtle, light-to-dark, vertical gradient to the tan stroke outlining the guitar body. It will help define your light source more and give it even more photorealism. BTW, I really prefer 7 and/or CS over CS2 as well. But it might be worth the upgrade just for the improved interaction with Illustrator and the improved support for vectors in general (yay SmartObjects!!)

Thanks my friend yeah maybe I'll make a series of guitars I own and others I like. Sorry to say, but never liked Fender guitars, only as shape the Telecaster, nothing else. For the outer "stroke" of the body you are right, but already have added this to the "To Do" list when will maek this as Print version. Now as about magazines, don't know if I'm interested, I do all the designs for myself above all and trying to satisfy my taste first and then others , but you never know...
Thanks for the comment, in the next "final" version of it will make also some corrections to the pickups housing and to more small details.
Greetings,
VAG
Haha, I know several people who are anti-fender. I would probably rather have a great Gibson, but I never met a guitar I dis-liked. Granted, I like some more than others, but my stratocaster does me fine. I really actually prefer my acoustic Takamine. I'm not much of an electric guy anyway.
Awesome. I bet you wouldn't even have to change them to satisfy clients. People would probably just want to use them "as is". You could get royalties. But I agree with you. Commissioned design work always turns me off. Art comes from the heart not from the wallet.
Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
